Homework Task:
Reflection: For our homework task this week, we were asked to produce a work that explores volume and proportion using two materials. My materials were MDF and acrylic.
I found a piece of MDF that was painted on one side so I thought this would be more visually appealing over just a plain unpainted sheet. I then cut them into squares and cut a gap half way through each piece. This allowed me to stuck pieces together without using any binding material which is within the constraints of this task.
After this, I then cut a small piece of acrylic sheets into thin strips. At first, I wasn't sure how to incorporate this with the pieces of MDF so I initially had them sitting on the structure, which creates volume through distinct lines, shapes and even the negative spaces between each other. Then I thought, maybe I could use two strips and stuck them in the gap of the MDF so they could stand by themselves which actually worked pretty well.
Below are the images I took in the process of making this structure/form and the various ways I tried to install it.
