Playing around with the collages earlier inspired me to look more into looking at historical paintings. I am particularly intrigued by the famous paintings depicting love and romance. I feel like depictions of love in the past are more sincere and raw compared to how the media portrays it now (where it's more sexualised and commercial).
The first thing that comes up to mind is the phrase "No Strings Attached". This phrase has been portrayed in so many songs, films, and even dating apps as if they are trying to sell the idea of sexual intimacy without any personal emotions involved. So I thought it would be ironic to place this phrase to these historical paintings. The juxtaposition between the old and the new way, just shows how much we have evolved and created sub cultures within the emotion of love.

One tumblr account that I found that does a similar thing is from artists Gisella Velasco and Toni Potenciano. They have transformed Renaissance paintings by creatively adding mash up rap lyrics to it. I love the humour that comes with it but also the process of recontextualising something from hundreds of years ago to make it more appropriate for this modern day and age.

Thinking more about the concept of 'No strings attached', I've been getting a lot of messages from social dating apps that are just too forward and derogatory so I thought I would compile them and make a quick edit of it over my body.

One thing that also came up on my 2/3 semester reviews was looking at progress shots of artworks and potentially making a new work from it. Dan pointed out that this particular photo, seeing all the letters and words laid out like that could be turned into something...

So I thought about compiling all popular dating slangs and mixing them with these ancient terminologies in a form of a word search:
The word search contains: Agape, Bae, Benching, Caking, Cuffed, Curving, DTF, Eros, FWB, Ghosting, Ludus, Mania, Netflix & Chill, NSA, Philautia, Philia, Pragma, Storge
