"The weight of words," (2019).
Form/Process: For this first activity, I have decided to use the sentence 'I love you' and use repetition on a half a size a4 paper. On the other hand, I then translated this in Tagalog and wrote it in the middle of the second paper.
Content: This work studies the weight of words and how much impact and meaning it evokes in our everyday lives. In my day to day life, I have heard people throw 'I love yous' everywhere and at every thing so casually. However, the Tagalog translation of this sentence is only used to acknowledge a person that is special to you. Therefore, the meaning is more heartfelt compared to the English translation.
"Carved," (2019).
Form/Process: This work is done by carving the sentence in to a piece of wood using a dremel which came from a thought I have had recently with a past relationship.
Content: I was inspired by the act of couples carving their names into trees in the park and other public spaces with each names attached with a positive nostalgia of being in love. In this work, the sentence implies a failed relationship instead.
